Research

My main scientific interests concern enzymes involved in lipid synthesis in plants, especially crops like rapeseed (Brassica napus) and camelina (Camelina sativa). I am trying to decipher the enzymes' activity, substrate preference and their intertwined connection. I am also interested in developing crops with higher oil quantity and quality and in developing crops producing unusual fatty acids.

Background

I have completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biotechnology at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of University of Gdańsk and Medical University of Gdańsk. On October 26th, 2018 I was granted a PhD in Biological Sciences - Discipline of Biochemistry at the abovementioned Institution (The topic of my thesis was: The participation of DGAT (acyl-CoA: diacylglycerol acyltransferase) and PDAT (phospholipid:diacylglycerol acyltransferase) types of acyltransferases in accumulation of triacylglycerols in seeds of selected oilseed plants), where I was also employed employed as a postdoctoral researcher afterwards, before coming to SLU in June 2020.
