Presentation
Investigating the impact of algae-derived substances in dairy cows to promote sustainability in dairy farming.
Research
I investigate the effects of Asparagopsis taxiformis on methane emissions, production parameters, metabolic pathways, and the overall health of dairy cows, including the impacts of bromine and iodine, compounds present in red algae.
I apply molecular microbiology techniques to analyze the rumen microbiome, focusing on methane-producing microorganisms such as methanogens (Archaea), but also other microbial groups that influence digestion and metabolism. My work seeks to understand how dietary interventions impact microbial communities in the rumen, improve nutrient utilization, and reduce methane emissions, contributing to both animal health and environmental sustainability.

Background
I am a biotechnologist with a Master's degree in Medical, Veterinary, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from ALMA MATER STUDIORUM, University of Bologna (Italy), and a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from FEDERICO II, University of Naples (Italy). My academic training combines molecular biology with specialized knowledge in animal science, providing me with a multidisciplinary perspective on sustainable livestock production and animal health.
