Sofia Wilhelmsson
Researcher at the Department of Applied Animal Science and Welfare, Section of Anthrozoology and Applied Etholgy.

I defended my thesis "There's no time to rush! - pigs’ and transport drivers’ welfare and interactions during slaughter transport" in June 2022. It was a multidisciplinary research project made in collaboration with e.g. researchers at the University of Melbourne and Lunds University. My thesis covered aspects such as working environment, physical workload, handling methods, the effects of a training intervention, pig behaviour and interactions between driver and pigs during slaughter transportation. Read more about the project here.

I have previously worked with research about e.g. animal welfare in organic broiler production.

Ongoing project: Improved animal handling in Swedish pig production through development and implementation of a training program - ProHand Pigs® SE
