I am a Marine Biologist with Master’s and Doctoral studies in Aquaculture, My passion for the subject has led me to excel as a scientist, a teacher, a volunteer promoting science, a farmer trainer, and a science communicator.

Presentation

I am a Marine Biologist from the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur. I continued my Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the Northwest Biological Research Center. Now I am working on my postdoc developing research with aquaponics and artificial intelligence.

Teaching

Since 2015, I have been a teacher at the International University of La Paz, working in the sciences. Also, I collaborated as a trainer with agro-aquaculture farmers and national and international students during this time.

Research

I researched in Japan at the University of Tottori, and at the Tokyo University of Marine Sciences and Technology (TUMSAT), in Florianópolis, Brazil, at the UFSC and in Italy at the Consiglio per la Ricerca in agriculture and l 'analisi dell Economia Agraria (CREA) to gain experience and skills in biofloc, recirculation systems, and aquaponics, which permitted me to work with multidisciplinary teams with shared objectives. I obtained diverse technical skills to analyze amino acids, fatty acids, elemental contents, proximal analyses, analytical plant analyses, microalga culture, mineralization process, and integration of the decouple aquaponics in semi-commercial. I am currently collaborating with colleagues in Colombia and Japan to improve the situation of farmers in Latin America.

Environmental analysis

During 2021-2022, I worked with coastal communities to develop courses and training programs that improve their knowledge of climate change, finances, and science. In 2020-2021, I participated in another project to generate learning material for indigenous girls from Oaxaca, Mexico, to enhance their knowledge of natural sciences.

Cooperation

For two years, I collaborated with the Council of Sciences from South California, in La Paz, Mexico, to improve science communication; during this time, I spearheaded the development of three innovative programs to promote science education and communication.  I have participated in 42 national and international conferences, and she obtained capacitation in various areas, including the development of agro-aquaculture production systems (aquaponics, hydroponics, biofloc), communication, and science teaching.

Background

In 2020, I was recognized nationally in Mexico as a candidate at the Research National System. In 2021, I won a place in the first program for women mentors to promote STEM areas in Latin America, awarded by British Council. In 2022, I won the prestigious National Prize in Research in Aquaculture and Fisheries, representing the years 2020, 2021, and 2022, given by the Mexican government and diverse associations.
