Postdoc in plant physiology and ecophysiology

Presentation

I'm a plant physiologist and ecophysiologist. My main research interest is in the interaction and responses of plants to their abiotic environment, with special interest in changes and regulation of the carbon-water homeostasis under the combination of variable environmental conditions and seasonal phenology.

My work has been focused on tree species, that are of high importance in the boreal region and I mostly focus on leaf/needle to individual tree scale processes. Recently, thanks to collaborators, I extended my viewpoint to consider stand scale implications of the individual physiology.

Research

In my current position I focus on characterising the diurnal and seasonal dynamics of mesophyll conductance, and on exploring the relationship between stomatal and mesophyll conductance. I'm working with three nordic species: scots pine, norway spruce and silver birch. In my work I take advantage of recent advances in the measurement technology as well as our deepening understanding of stable isotopes in plant tissues and during leaf gas-exchange.

During my PhD I worked on plant response to thermal stress and acclimation to different growth temperatures, in combination with nitrogen limitation or elevated CO2.
