Beijing Forest University visited SLU

A high level delegation from Beijing Forest University (BFU) visited SLU in Uppsala on October 18.

BFU is a leading university in Forest science in all of China and have had some student exchange and small research cooperation with SLU faculty of Forest science for some time. Now there is mutal interest to increase the cooperation. BFU is also very interested to join the Global Challenges University Alliance (GCUA).

Presentations and discussions was held to update mutual knowledge. Vice Chancellor Peter Högberg and BFU Chairman Wang Hongyuan also signed a new MOU between BFU and SLU.

In the afternoon professor Anders Malmer (former Director of SLU Global) showed the delegation around the campus. Professor Anders Roos hosted a short visit at the Department of Economics and Deputy head of department Erik Karltun welcomed the delegation to a stop at department of soil and environment and the MVM-building.

Final stop on the tour was in the Ecology-building where Yayuan Chen, a former MSc alumni of BFU, now PhD student in forest entomology, organized a much appreciated visit (Vice President Lou Youqing is also a forest entomologist).
