Interview: It's time for a change in the plant breeding mindset

"Today the challenge has changed: We need to address an ever growing population, under a different climate that keeps changing, and with people who can afford more and who will want more diversity in their diets", says Rodomiro Ortiz, Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding, SLU.

In a filmed interview done by the International Science and Partnership Council at CGIAR, Rodomiro Ortiz, explains why it is time for a change in the breeding mindset. Plant breeding is still relevant but the challenge today is looking beyond productivity at the whole value chain including resource use efficiency.
