Agreement with Elsevier cancelled

Published: 17 May 2018

The current agreement with Elsevier has been effectively cancelled from June 30 2018. It is the first time the consortium cancels an agreement of this magnitude.

Elsevier has not been able to meet the requirements put forth by the Swedish consortium of Higher Education institutions through the Royal Library, see previous news item for more information

-The Swedish Vice-Chancellors are united behind the decision to cancel the agreement with Elsevier. The agreement is unreasonable. Employees of our universities conduct the research, write and review articles, and pay for Open Access publishing, while the universities pay very steep subscription fees. We demand significantly lower costs and therefore we now do what German universities have already done, and cancel our agreement, says SLU Vice-Chancellor Peter Högberg.

Everyone who uses Elsevier journals at SLU will have continued access to articles published up until and including June 30 2018. The Library will assist you if or when you need access to articles published after this date.
