Zero hunger - theme for international research conference at SLU

Published: 14 October 2019

During 25-26 September, the Agricultural Research for Development Conference (Agri4D) 2019 brought together 250 participants from all over the world. The theme for the conference was "No hunger in 2030, our shared challenge!"

The aim of Agri4D 2019 was to promote knowledge exchange for improved sustainability and resilience in food systems. During the two days the attendants could listen to key note speeches by representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the French Agricultural Research and International Cooperation Organization (CIRAD) and many other organisations.

The thematic sub-sessions coverered topics as for example food security and migration governance; aqua-agro farming systems, yield gaps, rural youth and tenure reforms.

Participating in the conference were agricultural scientists and PhD students from around the world, along with policy-makers, representatives of agri-businesses, grassroots organisations and policy studies networks. All working with and/or interested in agriculture research for development.
