SLU Global is hiring

Published: 18 February 2019

We are looking for a communications coordinator to SIANI at SLU Global (25%). Apply by March 3.

SIANI (see facts below) and SLU have collaborated since 2014 through SLU Global. This collaboration provides an opportunity for SLU to strengthen capacities and facilitate the connection between research disciplines/institutes, the community of practice and policy makers. The collaboration connects SIANI to the strong Swedish research base in agricultural sciences. Academia and research institutes are the largest stakeholder groups in SIANI.

During 2019, the main activities for SIANI together with SLU will be the support to a student based event focusing on agroecology, a seminar during the Almedalen week and the biennial Agri4D conference at SLU, Ultuna. Additionally there will be other SIANI organized activities or events (World Water Week, World Food Day, SIANI members meeting, etc.), as well as meetings and events organized by SLU Global of relevance to SIANI.

Duties:

The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, informing about and reporting on the SIANI and SLU Global activities and events mentioned above. The coordinator will be based at SLU Global (in Uppsala) and will be part of the SIANI secretariat.

Qualifications:

We seek a highly motivated person who is either a communicator with broad interest in and documented experience from agricultural sciences or a person with research experience (with a PhD or PhD student) who has skills and experience with communications and media. Thus, both experiences in web-based, social and printed media as well as insight into SLU’s fields of expertise are essential. Since this assignment entails many contacts within and external to SLU, the applicant’s personal qualities and network outside of his/her own field of research are important. We are looking for a person that is organized, networking, communicative and enterprising. The candidate should speak English and Swedish fluently.

Assignment details:

The coordinator will perform the assignment based at SLU Global, Uppsala. He or she will be part of the SIANI secretariat, and will work in close collaboration with the senior SIANI coordinator at SLU. The work demands regular travel to Stockholm for meetings, trainings or events with the SIANI secretariat and network. The main working language for SIANI is English.

Employment: The candidate must have an employment at SLU. The extent of the assignment is 25% from April until December 2019. There may be possibilities for extension during 2020.

Starting date: April 1, or as agreed.
