"Empowerment of women is fundamental!"

Judith Irene Nagasha is an Assistant Lecturer of Development Studies at Kyambogo University in Uganda. She is currently visiting Sweden as a part of the AgriFoSe2030 programme to write a review paper on different aspects regarding gender and livestock production.

Judith Irene Nagasha is a social scientist and her areas of specialization and interest are in gender studies in natural resource management, climate change, food security and community outreaches.

– I am currently engaged in writing a systematic review publication coordinated by AgriFoSe, Theme 4, Livestock-Keeping among small holders for –nutritious diet and increase food security. The aim of the systematic review is to document the scientific knowledge about different aspects regarding gender and livestock production, says Judith.

More collaborative research networks needed

Judith is hoping this visit will result in more collaborative research networks in gender and livestock.

– The AgriFoSe2030 programme is important because it is aimed at achieving Goal 2 of the UN SDGs. This is key for all researchers, practitioner and change agents for appropriate interventions on food security, says Judith.
