Table – a joint food dialogue initiative

Table is a new collaboration between the University of Oxford, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and Wageningen University and Research (WUR) that seeks to facilitate informed discussions about how the food system can become sustainable, resilient, just, and ultimately “good”.

The Table network will bring together researchers and stakeholders from the surrounding community and drive discussions about the global food systems forward. The goal is to create cross-disciplinary engagements, to raise and highlight complex challenges, explore goal conflicts and identify areas where consensus exist or more research is needed.

Table has recently launched a new website, serving as a food systems resource center and a digital space for collaboration and discussion. The website also provides content created by its predecessor, the Food Climate Research Network (FCRN), as well as Table’s publications and projects including reports, articles, interviews, webinars and videos.

– Our website is the intersection and the main outlet of our work across the three partner institutions (Oxford University, SLU and Wageningen University), says Matthew Kessler, Research and Communications officer at Table. We encourage all interested to engage in the discussions on recent publications, journal articles, blogs, webinars and interviews from our respective institutions.

Table also provides a weekly newsletter, Fodder, that summarizes the latest food sustainability research as well as new jobs, events, conferences, calls for papers, courses, and more. Klick here to subscribe.

SLU Future Food is SLU's contact node for the Table collaboration, which will support SLU's development in the research and policy area and make the university's competence visible both nationally and internationally. SLU soft launch Nov 5th

A digital seminar marks Table's soft launch at SLU on November 5th: “Food systems resilience in the aftermath of covid-19: should the future of food be global or local?
