How Sluss is organised
Sluss is the umbrella organisation for the students’ unions at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, representing students at the university-wide level.
Through collaboration between the students’ unions, Sluss works to strengthen student influence, improve the quality of education and create a better student experience for all SLU students.
The Sluss board
The board is the organisation’s highest decision-making body and consists of one representative from each member body and one representative from the Sluss doctoral student committee. The board is responsible for the organisation’s overall decisions, organises the Sluss focus council meetings and represents Sluss in its dealings with the member unions.
Regular board meetings
The Sluss board meets four times a year: at the annual general meeting, the spring meeting, the autumn meeting and the winter meeting. The meetings are held at different SLU campuses, with the venue decided by the board.
The Sluss chair is responsible for convening meetings and chairs them, whilst the vice-chair acts as secretary during the meetings. Advisers and the treasurer have the right to attend and speak at meetings, but do not have the right to vote.

Focus council
The focus council is a conference for students’ union activists and is organised by the Sluss board at least once a year. The board jointly decides on the theme, date and host campus for the conference.
The focus council brings together representatives and officers from the member unions to discuss current issues relating to the activities of the students’ unions, exchange experiences and improve cooperation between the unions. The discussions are based on themes decided by the Sluss board and may cover everything from educational issues and international relations to student welfare activities and day-to-day students’ union work.
Sluss-DN (the doctoral student committee)
The doctoral student committee (Sluss-DN) is a subcommittee within Sluss and acts as a collaborative body for the doctoral student councils of the member organisations, the Sluss executive committee and the doctoral student ombudsman.
The doctoral student committee deals with matters relating to doctoral education and acts as an advisory and preparatory body within Sluss. The committee consists of representatives from the doctoral student councils of the member students’ unions, including the Alnarp Student Union, the Ultuna Student Union, the Veterinary Medicine Association and the Forestry College Student Union, as well as a chairperson. The doctoral student committee also has representatives on both the Sluss board and the SLU board.
