Sluss staff

Executive committee

The executive committee is the driving force behind Sluss’s activities and consists of a chair and a vice-chair, who are elected by the Sluss board. Together, they work full-time to advance students’ interests and put the board’s decisions into practice.

The chair is primarily responsible for monitoring academic affairs and represents the students on both the SLU board and in the vice-chancellor’s management group. The vice-chair focuses on student welfare issues and international cooperation, including through the Euroleague for Life Sciences Universities (ELLS).

Although their areas of responsibility differ, the executive committee works closely together on most matters, ranging from student representation and educational issues to partnerships and the development of student life at SLU. Email: sluss@slu.se 

The Sluss board

The board is the organisation’s highest decision-making body and consists of one representative from each member body and one representative from the Sluss doctoral committee.

Advisers

Upon completion of their term of office as chair or vice-chair, the executive committee continues in their roles as first and second adviser, respectively, for a further year. The former chair becomes a senior adviser and continues to represent the students on the SLU board. The former vice-chair becomes the second adviser, serves as chair of the nomination committee and continues their work within the Euroleague for Life Sciences Universities (ELLS). The advisers also attend board meetings and provide support by contributing their experience, continuity and guidance.

Treasurer

The treasurer is responsible for Sluss’s financial affairs and supports the executive committee on matters relating to finance and administration. The role is remunerated and is open to all SLU students. Email: slusskassor@slu.se

Auditors

Sluss has both an external auditor and a student auditor, each with a one-year term of office. The auditors’ role is to review the organisation’s operations and ensure that it operates transparently and in accordance with agreed guidelines. The role is remunerated and is open to all SLU students.

Chief marshal

The chief marshal is responsible for coordinating the marshals at academic ceremonies and other ceremonial events at SLU. The role acts as a link between the students’ unions and the university’s ceremonial events and is appointed in consultation with the chairs of the member unions, the Sluss chair and the academy stewards. Email: om_sluss@slu.se 

Principal student safety representative 

The principal student safety representative deals with issues relating to students’ working environment and study conditions at SLU. The role involves representing students on health and safety issues and helping to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable learning environment for all students. This position is elected from the Sluss board.

Member of the Board of Education

In addition to the Sluss chair and vice-chair, the Sluss board appoints a further student representative to serve as a member of SLU’s Board of Education. The role involves representing students’ views on matters relating to the quality and development of programmes and courses and the students’ learning environment.
