On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- describe how feed can be stored and processed,
- describe commonly used feedstuffs and their composition, and how animal requirements and nutrient composition of feeds can be expressed when evaluating feeds,
- describe the nutrient-related and behavioural needs and feeding-related demands of farm animals, pet animals and wild animals, and how these can be fulfilled in different production systems,
- describe the importance of feeding and feeds on health and welfare in different animal categories,
- identify situations where feeding or feeds does not fulfil the requirements of the animal and reflect on the consequences,
- present a project work in groups, both written and oral.
