Forest soils and climatology
Course description
How do climate, bedrock and soil affect Sweden’s forests and how we should manage them?
This course provides a basic understanding of the relationships between climate, soil and forest ecosystems. You will learn about Sweden’s climate, rocks, minerals, soil types and soil formation, as well as how the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil influence forest conditions.
Through lectures, field exercises, excursions and laboratory work, you will gain practical skills in describing and assessing soil and climate. The course provides the important foundation needed for understanding and working with sustainable forestry, land use and forest ecosystem services which is well adapted to each site.

- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
