Objectives
The course teaches causes and development of disease in our most common domestic animals, how diseases manifest at tissue and organ levels, and how they affect the animal as a whole. Practical skills training in administration of medications and clinical sampling techniques is also provided.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- account for causes (aetiology) and development (pathogenesis) of the most important diseases in our most common domestic animals;
- describe pathological changes for the most important diseases on macroscopic and microscopic levels;
- account for the organ-related and systemic effects to disease cause and their relation to clinical signs of disease;
- integrate the results from macroscopic and microscopic findings to determine a likely diagnosis;
- use correct medical terminology in pathology;
- administer common medications and take samples from animal phantoms.
Content
