Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide theoretical and, to some extent, practical knowledge in infection prevention and control and emergency care, primarily focusing on the species horse, dog, and cat.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to
- Design and implement a development project in infection prevention and control in collaboration with a clinical practice within veterinary health care,
- Apply selected emergency care interventions and analyse their relevance in different clinical situations,
- Develop a preparedness plan for a defined area within veterinary health care,
- Explain and analyse the significance of the individual, the work group, and the organisation for sustainable development within veterinary health care,
- Critically review and evaluate** **current knowledge, developments, and research findings in emergency care and infection prevention and control.

Ämnesmässigt innehåll
Kursen omfattar vårdhygien och akutsjukvård inom djuromvårdnad, med fokus på akutsjukvårdsinsatser, beredskap och utvecklingsarbete inom vårdhygien och hållbar utveckling.
Genomförande
Kursen utnyttjar olika undervisningsformer för att främja studenternas lärande genom diskussioner, föreläsningar, övningar, handledning, utvecklingsarbete och seminarier där studenterna aktivt leder genomförandet. Studenten övar ett vetenskapligt förhållningssätt till vårdhygien, akutsjukvård, hållbar utveckling, etik, djurskydd och ansvarsfrågor relaterade till området. I kursen ingår hantering av modeller. Övning på kadaver och levande djur kan ingå.
Kursen fokuserar på följande generella kompetenser:
Informationskompetens, kreativitet, kritiskt tänkande, problemlösning, vetenskapliga metoder, muntlig kommunikation, skriftlig kommunikation, samarbete och tidsplanering/hantera tidsramar.

Teaching formats
The course uses a variety of teaching and learning methods to promote student learning and discussion, including lectures, practical exercises, supervision, development work, and seminars in which students actively lead the activities. Students practise a scientific approach to infection prevention and control, emergency care, sustainable development, ethics, animal welfare, and issues of responsibility related to the field. The course includes model handling. Practical training using cadavers and live animals may be included,
