Page reviewed:  20/03/2026

Welcome to SLU! On this page, you will find information about the orientation programme and roll-call day. We kindly ask you to check this page regularly for important updates.

The orientation programme 24-28 August 2026

During the orientation programme, you will receive valuable information about Sweden and studying at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The programme is designed for international master's and bachelor's students, as well as exchange students. While attendance is not compulsory, we strongly recommend that you take part, as it provides essential insights into studying in Sweden, along with the opportunity to meet fellow students and enjoy some fun activities.

The orientation programme will be organised partly online and partly on campus.

A schedule will be published here at the beginning of May.

Master's programmes

Roll-call day: 31 August 2026

If you have been admitted to a master's programme the first day of the semester is 31 August. The roll-call day starts with a joint welcome ceremony for programme students and programme-specific roll-calls.
Detailed information will be published here in June.

Attending roll-call day is compulsory for all newly admitted programme students. Compulsory attendance at digital roll-calls applies to students admitted to distance learning programmes.

Exceptions are possible if a student has special reasons for not attending. Students who are unable to attend due to special reasons must notify SLU no later than 09:00 (CET) on 31 August 2026. Please note that you are required to complete both of the following steps:

  • Notify the Admissions Office: Send an email to admissions@slu.se.

  • Contact your Programme Director of Studies: You must also inform the Director of Studies for your specific programme. Contact details can be found on the relevant programme page.

Freestanding or distance courses

If you are admitted to a freestanding course, you are usually able to register online. Online registration will be open in Ladok Student one week before the course starts. To be able to register online, you need to activate your student IT account first (See "How to activate your SLU student account" in the checklist). If you cannot register online, your teacher can also register you at the first lecture.

A link to your course schedule (‘Schedule in TimeEdit’) is available on the course page. Information about the course literature can also be found on the course page under ‘Reading list’.

You are welcome to attend the orientation programme, see information above.

Exchange students

It is compulsory for exchange students to attend the course start. At the first class, you will receive important information about the course and the requirements in relation to examination and grading. Registration for the course in Ladok Student is required in order to attend classes and activates your insurance and student account.
