How to apply for study support
If you have a permanent disability that affects your studies, you can apply for support online. Use the Nais system to submit your application. The system is secure and protects your personal information.
When do I need to apply for study support?
You should apply as soon as you are offered a place on a course or programme.
If you require significant support, please contact us early. Email ability@slu.se as soon as you apply for a course or programme at SLU.
You can apply for support at any time. Some students may only realise they need help later, or they may receive a diagnosis after they have already started their studies.
Support is granted for a specific period of time. The Nais system will email you one month before your support expires. You must contact your coordinator before the end date if you need an extension. Once a support period ends, it cannot be extended. However, you can always submit a new application in Nais.
How do I apply for study support?
Follow these steps to apply for support in Nais:
- Log in to Nais: Nais (uhr.se).
- Read the information about personal data.
- Attach a certificate proving your disability.
- The certificate must be in Swedish or English.
- It must contain your name and personal identity number.
- The certificate must be dated, issued and signed by a specialist, such as a doctor, psychologist, speech and language therapist or audiologist.
- It must state the type of disability you have and describe how it affects you.
- If you have had study support at another university, you can also upload a certificate from there.
- Briefly describe how your disability affects your ability to study.
- Check that your application is correct.
- Submit your application electronically.
- Book an appointment with your coordinator to discuss suitable support and adaptations. Contact the Ability team if you have any questions.
- Email ability@slu.se if you have any questions.
What happens when I have submitted my application?
After submitting your application, you must book an appointment with your coordinator to discuss your support (see point 7 above).
Once the meeting is over, your coordinator will post the decision in Nais. You will receive an email once the decision is ready. You can then log in to Nais to read it.
Your coordinator will contact you if they need more information or if your application is not approved.
All emails will be sent to the address you provided in Nais. Please use an active email address that you check regularly so you do not miss important updates.
If you need help with your application or have questions, contact the Ability team.
