Researcher in Conservation Biology
About us
At the Department of Ecology in Uppsala, we conduct research for sustainable forest and agricultural production and efficient biological conservation. We study the influence of land use and climate on animals, plants, soils nutrient status, and greenhouse gas balances. Solutions are sought that will mitigate climate change, preserve threatened species, benefit biological diversity and ecosystem services, and control pests in forest and agricultural landscapes as well as in urban areas.

About the position
The researcher will work in the field (in southern Sweden), with statistical analyses, and writing of scientific papers. The research project is about how insects (beetles and parasitic wasps) and fungi are affected by forest management, specifically on effects of dead wood additions caused by the spruce bark beetle.
Your profile
A Ph D in ecology or a similar subject is required. Experience from similar research, i.e. about how different forest organism groups are affected by environmental changes at, for instance, spruce bark beetle outbreaks, is required. The experience should include statistical analyses of species communities as well as planning and conducting field work.
Knowledge about beetles, parasitic wasps and fungi is a merit. The applicant should be able to take own initiatives and work both independently and in a group. Excellent skills in written and spoken English is a requirement. Driving license is required.
