Veterinary Radiologist at the Diagnostic Imaging Unit

Are you a veterinarian with experience in diagnostic imaging interested in further developing your diagnostic imaging career?  We welcome your application for this temporary position in the diagnostic imaging unit at the University Animal Hospital (UDS), Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala!

About the position

You will work with small animal diagnostic imaging, in particular ultrasound and radiography, with the possibility depending on experience with working with CT and MRI.

You work towards set goals according to the UDS objectives. For all employees at the diagnostic imaging unit, supervision and teaching of future veterinary nurses and veterinary students is included in the daily work.

Working hours are currently scheduled for weekdays during the day.

Your profile

You must have a veterinary degree valid in Sweden and have post-graduate training in diagnosic imaging. It is a merit if you have completed a ECVDI residency programme or a national education programme in diagnostic imaging.

You must have a background working as a small animal clinical veterinarian and must have more advanced experience in working with veterinary diagnostic imaging at an animal hospital or larger animal clinic where you must have worked performing and interpreting small animal ultrasounds, should have worked interpreting and reporting small animal radiographs, and perhaps even worked with small animal CT and/or MRI.

You must be fluent in spoken and written English. Knowledge of Swedish is considered a merit.  

You should be used to handling computers and information systems in an animal hospital environment.

Experience in teaching veterinary diagnostic imaging is a merit.

You should value good relationships with colleagues, have good collaboration skills and work well in a team. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as collaborative skills, curiosity, motivation, interest in communication and service. As a person, you are structured, proactive and can handle sometimes demanding and logistically challenging situations.

About us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research and postgraduate education in anaesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal nursing, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine and reproduction. In all subjects, our activities span all animal species.

At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for pets, competition animals and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the veterinary care of the future.

Under one roof, medical care is offered for horses, dogs, cats and other small animals. In addition to modern business-adapted premises, we have access to advanced diagnostic imaging and a veterinary specialist laboratory. UDS's operations also include an outpatient clinic that travels to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and farm animals. In total, we have about 200 employees who provide qualified animal healthcare 24/7.

The Diagnostic Imaging Unit is one of the foremost in veterinary diagnostic imaging in Europe and we are an approved training center for European veterinary diagnostic imaging specialists in both small and large animals. The unit is well equipped with modern radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, small and large animal 64-slice CT, small animal 1.5 T MRI, equine standing 0.27 T MRI and scintigraphy for small and large animals including a Hotlab.

The diagnostic imaging unit is currently staffed by 14 radiologists and radiographers (veterinary nurses specialising in diagnostic imaging) and has many international contacts.
