Thomas wants to contribute to more sustainable and resilient Swedish livestock farms, especially by better understanding the economic and policy dimensions.

I'm currently engaged in two key research areas within SustAinimal. First, we are investigating the economic performance and resilience of integrated crop-livestock farms. Second, we will novel avenues for collective action among livestock farmers to enhance biodiversity.

I am an agricultural economist with a background in farm resilience and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and risk management tools. I completed my PhD at Wageningen University & Research within the Business Economics Group. This interdisciplinary consortium offers an exciting opportunity to broaden this perspective through the lens of sustainability.

I hope that our work will contribute to more sustainable and resilient Swedish livestock farms, especially by better understanding the economic and policy dimensions of these concepts.

Resilience and sustainability are two focal policy aims of the EU Farm to Fork strategy. By gaining insights into the attributes and catalysts of resilient and sustainable farms, we are better equipped to support and promote the long-term viability of farming practices.
