Presentation
I am a doctoral student utilizing the Swedish National Forest Inventory (NFI) tree core archive as a tool to assess environmental change. I also serve as Assistant Head of Department for issues of Diversity and Equal Opportunities.
Research
My project aims to use the NFI tree core archive to assess whether long-term changes in nutrients (nitrogen) and water availability to Swedish forests are occurring. I am also investigating whether functional traits, wood density and C content are changing over time and across the latitudinal gradient of Swedish forests.
By studying these relationships, we have the potential to better estimate shifts in boreal carbon (C) stocks. This knowledge will help a wide range of stakeholders—scientists, forest managers, policymakers, and the public—track how forest growth and health evolve, and what that means for carbon uptake and long-term storage.
