Eva Skiöldebrand, professor in pathology

Last changed: 16 January 2024

Eva Skiöldebrand is a professor of pathology since 1 February 2018. Her inauguration lecture is about biomarkers in blood for early diagnosis of osteoarthritis in horses.

Eva Skiöldebrand's main research area is osteoarthritis in horses, with applications also in human medicine.

She has identified biomarkers (disease-specific substances) consisting of fragments of cartilage tissue that can be detected in body fluids.

Using this knowledge, she is now developing methods to diagnose osteoarthritis at an early stage, thereby increasing the potential for successful treatment.

Another research area is multiple diseases caused by inflammations spreading between different organs.
