Drylands Transform had been accepted for a poster presentation at the 2024 Global Food Security Conference in Leuven, Belgium. Ingrid Öborn was there presenting the project objectives and preliminary results.

The 5th Global Food Security Conference was held in Leuven, Belgium on 9-12 of April 2024. Drylands Tranform was represented by Professor Ingrid Öborn, the principal investigator (PI) of the project.

Focus during the conference was on the triple ‘Cs’ of climate, covid and conflict, which all were part of the stress factors in the Karamoja region. From this, more recent short-term shocks to the food system have emerged and, against a background of longer-term stresses, are adding the issue of food system resilience to the already-recognised sustainability agenda.

The poster had attracted many interested visitors and generated several interesting discussions. Ingrid presented both the interdisciplinary approach and research methods as well as some of all preliminary results that are now coming from the project work.
