Emma Holmström is a professor of silviculture since 1 March 2025. Her inauguration lecture is titled "Skogsskötsel - att investera i framtiden".

Emma Holmström's research field is silviculture, with a focus on Nordic forest ecosystems, and her goal is to find solutions that consider both forestry and biodiversity, and also climate change. Using field data from forest trials and inventories, she works with models for how trees grow and forests develop, and methods such as clearing, thinning and tree species selection. Emma Holmström researches a wide range of systems, from clear-cutting to multi-layered systems, and with a variety of tree species and mixed forests.
