Kes McCormick is a professor of business development and sustainable innovation. His inauguration lecture has the title "Climate, nature and society – a learning journey".
Kes McCormick has a background in political and environmental sciences. In his work on sustainability issues, he combines research, education and collaboration across the fields of business, innovation and governance. Previous work has focused on topics such as energy, transportation, sustainable cities and food systems. A current interest is investigating how nature-based solutions can respond to current and future problems, especially in urban planning and in regional contexts.
Biography
Kes McCormick was born in 1977 and grew up in Melbourne, Australia. He began his academic career with studies in environmental and political sciences at Melbourne University and then obtained a master's degree in environmental science at Monash University in Australia in 2002. This was followed by a move to Sweden and Lund University, where he started PhD studies after a period as a research assistant. He defended his thesis in 2007 and has since held various research positions at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University. He was appointed associate professor at Lund University in 2014. Kes McCormick started working at SLU in 2023 and leads a research group focused on business management.
