Mikaela Lindberg is a professor of ruminant nutrition since 1 September 2024. Her inauguration lecture is titled "Från gräs till mjölk: idisslarnas roll i vår matproduktion".

Mikaela Lindberg evaluates strategies to make ruminant production systems more sustainable, especially in terms of feeding, production, environmental impact and animal welfare. Her focus is on the unique digestive system of ruminants, especially the microbial balance in the first and largest stomach, the rumen. She has investigated how to feed cows with waste products from the food and biofuel industries, how to reduce cows' methane production through feed selection and feed supplements, and how to increase the lifespan of dairy cows.
