The focus of the master’s thesis will be video analysis of behaviour using an ethogram to establish calf behavioural patterns related to bedding material.

The overall project is looking at different types of calf bedding for cold housed calves and the impact of this bedding on their behaviour and welfare. The comparisons are calves housed inside a warm barn under normal conditions; calves housed outside with straw and calves housed outside with reed canary grass straw. For this project we are seeking a master’s student who is interested in animal behaviour. The focus of the master’s thesis will be video analysis of behaviour using an ethogram to establish calf behavioural patterns related to bedding material. If you are interested in animal welfare or behaviour of livestock, please get in touch.
