A lot of important research-based knowledge and technology is not being used to the desired extent. Our research has shown that how actors are involved in the development and implementation work is an important factor.

In this area the research is about understanding obstacles and opportunities, but also about moving from technology-driven to more needs-driven development.

To better understand and support growing agricultural companies is also needed. Traditionally, advice and counceling is directed to the company manager, while production depends on all employees in a company being adequately involved. Therefore, the forms of counceling needs to be developed with the aim of increasing the capacity of large and growing agricultural companies with many employees.

In recent years, several studies have shown the importance of social sustainability in agriculture in achieving other sustainability goals. This concerns the individual's perceived meaning, fellowship with like-minded people and the legitimacy of society's institutions. SLU Competence Center for Advisory Services has developed methods for managing social sustainability at several of these levels.

Our role is to research new ways of working and to support actors in the knowledge chain to effectively strengthen their ability to change and their methodological competence.
