Integrating regenerative and transformative elements into tourism experience design

Page reviewed:  31/03/2025

The project starts with the idea that certain components in tourism products can trigger transformation in tourists and lead to the development of regenerative mindsets.

A regenerative mindset emphasizes restoring and enhancing ecosystems, communities, and overall well-being. At the individual level, it includes cultivating practices that promote well-being, mindfulness, and a sense of purpose, enabling individuals to contribute positively to the world. By adopting a regenerative mindset, individuals and organizations aim to go beyond "not harming" to actively "doing good" for people and the planet.

Customers' experiences of tourism products are explored to identify and integrate regenerative mindset-triggering components into tourism experiences.

The customer insight is used in developing guidelines for tourism companies for designing tourism products including transformative and regenerative components. The guidelines will integrate customer processes and business processes as well as interactive perspectives in experiencing and delivering the experiences.

The project utilizes case studies to develop and design the guidelines. Altogether four to six project companies and their products including regenerative components are explored and customer insights are collected to increase understanding of the aspects needed to co-design this type of tourism experiences.
