About SLU Future Food

SLU Future Food utvecklar forskning och samverkan för ekologiskt, ekonomiskt och socialt hållbara livsmedelssystem och är en av fyra framtidsplattformar vid SLU. Vi arbetar med komplexa hållbarhetsutmaningar med framtidsperspektiv och söker ny kunskap och nya lösningar över ämnesgränser tillsammans med näringsliv, myndigheter och andra sektorer. 

What is a Future Platform?

SLU Future Food is one of four strategic future platforms at SLU. The future platforms work with complex scientific issues and are characterized by a multidisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach with a future perspective. The work is conducted across the faculty and in collaboration with relevant social actors.

Our vision

SLU Future Food works for a sustainable and competitive food system by stimulating interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations, communicating scientifically supported knowledge and identifying key issues. The platform works with complex sustainability challenges with a future perspective and seeks new knowledge and new solutions across subject boundaries together with business, authorities and other sectors. 

Our mission

By being an active, interactive interface between academia and society, SLU Future Food aim to play a key role in the development for sustainable life, with a focus on sustainable food systems.

• We develop inter- and multidisciplinary working methods to address complex challenges
• We stimulate research networking and cooperation
• We support and contribute in attracting research funding both nationally and internationally
• We generate science-based decision support and identify knowledge needs for issues of importance to society

Organisation

SLU Future Food is run by a programme director appointed by the dean of the NJ Faculty. The programme director, together with the programme secretary and the communications officers make up the platform staff. The organisation also includes a steering group and an external reference group

The target groups of SLU Future Food are stakeholders within the food system’s value chains, politicians, research-funding bodies, universities (including SLU), researchers and other interested parties.
