We are hiring a field assistant to the EU project WildCrop which aims to develop improved strategies for control of strawberry pathogens

About the position

We are hiring a field assistant to a research project related to strawberry resistance and biological control. The field assistant will, among other things, manage strawberry collections/plantations, pick fruit, manage plated microorganisms, and collect data on various strawberry traits.  

Your profile

Applicants should preferably be enrolled to an ongoing, or have completed, education related to horticulture, crop protection, ecology, or similar subject. Experience of work related to microorganisms is meriting. Having a valid driver’s license is meriting. Having a spraying license for plant protection products is meriting. The applicant must be able to communicate well in English. Personal qualities such as good organizational skills, teamwork, problem solving and the ability to work independently will also be important factors considered in the recruitment process.

About us

The field assistant will be based at the Department of Plant Protection Biology at SLU. This department is an interdisciplinary constellation where the units of Integrated Plant Protection, Chemical Ecology, and Resistance Biology work to develop sustainable and innovative methods to meet the challenge of securing future plant protection.
