GCUA 2030 are honoured to welcome Fundile Nyaweni, NMU, Auja Bywater, PennState Uni, and Muhammed Sinan, BOKU, who will present their doctoral projects in an inspiring way.

First prize laureate: Fundile Nyaweni, Nelson Mandela University
Title: Mathematical modelling of tumour treatment with chemotherapy

Motivation: “This high-quality research focuses on the importance of creating mathematical modelling for optimizing tumour treatment with chemotherapy. Fundile Nyaweni succeeds to effectively communicate the research in a clear way and explains very well how her research contributes to global sustainable development with a focus on SDG 3 –“Good health and well-being” and SDG 9 – “Industry, innovation and infrastructure”.

Second prize laureate: Auja Bywater, Pennstate University
Title: Improving food safety in controlled environment agriculture (CEA) systems

Motivation: “This high-quality research focuses on the important topic of improving food safety in controlled environment agriculture systems. Auja Bywater succeeds to effectively communicate the research in a clear way and explains very well how her research contributes to global sustainable development with a focus on SDG 2 - "No hunger", SDG 3 - "Good health and well-being" and SDG 6 – “Clean water and sanitation”.
 

Third prize laureate: Muhammed Sinan, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, BOKU
Title: How much carbon is stored in stem bark of Austrian trees?

Motivation: “This high-quality research focuses on the important topic of measuring how much carbon that is stored in stem bark of trees, which is useful when combat climate change. Muhammed Sinan succeeds to effectively communicate the research in a clear way and explains very well how his research contributes to global sustainable development with a focus on SDG 13 - "Climate action", SDG 7 - "Affordable and clean energy" and SDG 15 – “Life on land”.
