Rangelands and Pastoralism in times of protracted crises
Date: 10 December 2025
Time: 14:00 - 15:30
Organiser: FAO and GASL
Location: Online
Families living on rangelands areas, especially pastoralists, usually face protracted crises due to different reasons, or a combination of them, including climate change, resource degradation, conflicts, lack of adequate policies or extension services, among others. Such crises threaten livelihoods and food security. In response, strategies focus on building resilience through sustainable land management, securing land and water rights, reinforcing traditional systems, increasing organizations to advocate for the inclusion of pastoralists in policymaking. The main objective of the webinar is to exchange knowledge and experiences on good practices and strategies to overcome crisis among pastoralists communities.
The webinar will feature pastoral experts, producers, academics, and representatives from various sectors who will share diverse experiences in addressing prolonged crises. Attendees will engage in discussions regarding recommendations for pastoral families and relevant stakeholders on effective practices, as well as guidance for policymakers to support producers in preventing and managing such crises.
