Seminar: Meet two of our new postdocs at the Department of Crop Production Ecology

This months Crop Production Ecology Seminar is a double-header featuring two of our new postdoctoral researchers in plant ecology.

Date: 30 January 2026

Time: 14:00 - 15:30

Venue: Tammsalen, Ecology Centre, Ulls väg 16, Uppsala

Organiser: Department of Crop Production Ecology, SLU

Location: Online, Uppsala

Gemma Clemente-Orta will give a talk on Multitrophic Interactions in Agroecosystems: A Landscape Approach.

Landscape ecology is a multidisciplinary science that studies the structure, functioning and dynamics of landscapes. This spatial approach allows us to how landscape structure, management intensity, and ecological context interact to influence biodiversity, agroecosystem functioning, and crop health. In this talk, I will share some of the results obtained from different cropping systems, based on data on arthropod abundance and the incidence of plant viruses.

Mathilde Dionisi will give a talk about Trajectories of glyphosate phase-out by innovative farmers for deployment of glyphosate-free arable systems in French agriculture.

Launched in December 2021 by INRAE, the TAGAIDA project aimed to anticipate and assist the phase-out of glyphosate in France. Using a tracking innovation methodology to analyze glyphosate-free cropping systems used by French arable farmers, we identified archetypes of action logic to phase-out glyphosate at a national level. We then used the results of this study to develop an interactive tool to promote the design of glyphosate-free arable cropping systems.
