CRU webinar: Genetic Constraints and Opportunities in the Evolution of Sex Differences

Sex differences are everywhere in nature, yet males and females share almost the same genes—posing a fundamental paradox for evolution. How does the same genome produce different traits in males and females, and why does genetic diversity persist even when selection is strong? In this talk, I will present our experimental evolution and genomic work on an insect model system that tests how selection shapes the evolution of sex differences in body size and influences whether genetic variation is maintained or lost.
