Nature-based solutions, such as wetlands, hedgerows, and urban green spaces, can help address climate-change challenges while benefiting biodiversity and human well-being. Yet putting these solutions into practice is not always straightforward. Different stakeholders have different priorities, and successful implementation depends on how we work together across sectors, landscapes and levels of governance.

This PhD project explores how landscape governance and collaborative approaches can help overcome these challenges. Drawing on experiences from eight European regions, the research examines how authorities, farmers and other stakeholders can work together to implement nature-based solutions in both urban and rural areas. The aim is to bridge the gap between research and practice and identify ways to support more inclusive and sustainable transformations towards climate-resilient landscapes through nature-based solutions.
