Would you like to learn more about the United Nations, international diplomacy, meet young people from around the world, and explore how global challenges related to food and agriculture are addressed?

Applications are now open for the Global Model FAO, an international simulation programme organized by FAO and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA).

From 24 to 27 November 2026, 350 students and young people from around the world will come together at FAO headquarters in Rome for a four-day experience focused on the future of food, agriculture and sustainable development.

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Represent a country in international negotiations and discussions
  • Explore topics such as biodiversity, nutrition, food safety and artificial intelligence in agrifood systems
  • Develop skills in diplomacy, public speaking, policy analysis and leadership
  • Meet and connect with students and young professionals from around the world
  • Get a closer look at how a United Nations agency works

The programme could be a great opportunity if you are interested in international relations, sustainable development, public policy, agriculture or global affairs — and curious to learn more about international cooperation in practice.

Location:  FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy

Date:  24–27 November 2026

You apply yourself by registering to the Global Model FAO 2026. SLU intends to contribute to travel and accommodation costs for up to three full-time SLU students accepted to the programme.
