Materials Seminar #3: Bio-inspired Sustainable Materials and Generative AI for Molecular Design
You are welcome to join the Materials Seminar Series #3 at SLU. Prof. Matthew J. Harrington and Prof. Patrick Bryant will present their latest research on bio-inspired sustainable materials and generative AI for molecular design.
Date: 6 November 2026
Time: 10:30 - 12:20
Organiser: Dr. Lucia Youssef
Co-organiser: Dr. Zhejian Cao
Location: Uppsala
Speakers:
Matthew J. Harrington
Department of Chemistry, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Talk title: A Bio-inspired Playbook for Sustainably Fabricating Strong Materials Using Weak Interactions and Fluid Condensates
Matthew will present research on how biological materials inspire sustainable approaches to producing strong, tough, and recyclable materials using weak molecular interactions and fluid condensates.
Patrick Bryant
DDLS Fellow at Science for Life Laboratory, Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Sweden
Talk title: Programming Function: Generative AI for Next-Generation Molecular Architecture
Patrick will discuss how generative AI and structural biology are transforming molecular design, enabling the development of functional proteins, peptides, and macrocycles for applications in medicine and biomaterials.
