Studium Generale: What do you eat with?
What does it mean to eat with all our senses, and how might this affect the development of the food of the future? Join us for breakfast as we explore the boundaries of taste!
Date: 20 November 2026
Time: 08:30 - 09:30
Venue: The break room, level 2 of the BioCenter
Language: Swedish
Organiser: SLU University Library
Location: Uppsala
Do you eat with your eyes? Or does the aroma matter more? Should food crunch, or should it flow? What do you think you would never try, and what does home taste like to you? As we develop the food of the future, we need to reflect on, and perhaps challenge, our experience of eating.
We will explore this during our breakfast session, which offers you the chance to reflect on your own experiences and listen to ethnologist and food expert Richard Tellström as he discusses how sensory perception interacts with new ways of eating. Richard Tellström is affiliated with SLU and SLU Future Food.
You will also meet Cubegreen – hydroponic growers who supply the Nobel banquet chefs and cultivate herbs you may never have heard of.
Breakfast will be served for as long as it lasts.
The breakfast is arranged as one of the events surrounding the exhibition Ancient Soil/Future Food, which is being shown November 9–27 at the entrance of BioCenter (Almas Allé 5).
