Paradox 2018-2022
Escaping the pastoralist paradox in the face of climate change: A comparative analysis of different tenure systems and their implications for climate change vulnerability in semi-arid Sub-Saharan Africa.
The long-term sustainability of the ongoing transition from pastoralism to agro-pastoralism rests on the possibility of having access to land that is safe but at the same time flexible, the so-called pastoralist paradox. The purpose of this project is to analyze this transition through a comparative study of the link between land tenure and the capacity for climate change in four semi-arid regions in Kenya dominated by pastoralism.
