Biological control and sustainable agriculture at Borgeby field days
The SLU Centre for Biological Control, CBC, participated in this year’s Borgeby Fältdagar with a booth focused on biocontrol solutions.
Borgeby field days is one of Scandinavia’s largest agricultural fairs and was arranged 25–26 June 2025. Chloë Raderschall participated in SLU’s stage program and presented the SLU Centre for Biological control for the audience.
– It was exciting to meet farmers, researchers, and industry partners to talk about how sustainable practices can support healthier crops and reduce reliance on chemical inputs. I had many interesting discussions during the fair, says Chloë.
Chloë and Ramesh Vetukuri represented CBC at a booth focused on biocontrol solutions.
– We were also pleased to welcome participants from the BREEDTECH training course, who visited our booth to gain insights into practical applications of biocontrol in modern crop management, says Ramesh.
SLU also offered demonstrations of the “How’s My Soil?” app, workshops on soil structure, and panel discussions on crop rotation and cover crops. Students from various SLU programs participated to share their experiences studying agronomy, horticulture, and other green professions, giving visitors an insight into life at SLU. Attendees could also try VR experiences of Campus Alnarp, and sample Swedish apple juice and ice cream at the SLU tent served by students from the Agricultural and Rural Management programme.
