Young researchers went deeper into bioadhesives

News published:  28/11/2025

20 young researchers with a strong interest in bio-based adhesives participated in the BioGlue course, which combined theoretical lectures with practical laboratory exercises and analytical evaluations.

The introductory PhD course Bio-based Adhesives: Chemistry, Performance and Applications is designed for fellows of the BioGlue centre as well as doctoral students interested in research and development of bio-based adhesives for the wood product industry.

The cours was held for the first time in November and provided a comprehensive understanding of the chemistry, structure, and industrial applications of bio-adhesives, combining theoretical lectures with practical laboratory exercises and analytical evaluations.

"The BioGlue course plays a vital role in equipping young researchers with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in bio-based adhesive technologies. It has been a great pleasure for me to serve as a teacher and engage in fruitful discussions with fresh minds on this vibrant and rapidly evolving field of research”, says Rafail Papadakis, course leader together with Joran van Blockland, and researcher in Department of Forest Biomaterials and Technology.
