CUT hosts delegates from 7 countries for the AgriFoSe2030 science translation workshop
Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) is home to the Zimbabwe Hub of AgriFose2030, a Swedish-funded interdisciplinary programme driven by the mandate to translate scientific research evidence into policy and practice in support of United Nations SDG #2 (Zero Hunger) in low-income countries.
Under the guidance of the Zimbabwe Hub's Process Coordination Champion, Professor Robert Musundire, the AgriFoSe2030 programme convened a knowledge exchange workshop at Chinhoyi University of Technology from February 5-9, 2026. The event brought together researchers and stakeholders from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and other African countries, under a hybrid model where Swedish participants and panel facilitators joined in remotely to share insights and strategies related to impactful community and livelihoods-related interventions within the agricultural ecosystem.
Amongst key facilitators were Dr. Judith Nagasha from Kyambogo University in Uganda, Dr. Selorm Kugbega from Stockholm Environment Institute, Sweden, and Dr. Chrispen Sukume, Senior Economist at the Livestock and Meat Advisory Council of Zimbabwe. Researchers from the University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University and Great Zimbabwe University also took part in the workshop.
As the workshop thematized discussions around the intersection of research and public policy frameworks, delegates learnt from evidence-based practice as they toured and drew in-sights from CUT's circular economy-oriented "Black Soldier Fly" project, as well as the dynamics surrounding edible insects farming as a mean to bolster food security and entrepreneurship within marginalized communities.
