Rahul Jangali awarded second place at Falling Walls Lab Gothenburg 2026
The Department of Energy and Technology congratulates Rahul Jangali on his outstanding achievement at the 2026 Falling Walls Lab Gothenburg, where he was awarded second place for his presentation, Breaking the Wall of Invisible Crop Disease.
Falling Walls Lab is an international pitch competition that challenges participants to communicate their research and innovations in just three minutes. Held annually around the world, the competition provides a platform for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to showcase ideas capable of creating scientific and societal breakthroughs. Local winners advance to the global finale in Berlin as part of the Falling Walls Science Summit, one of the world's leading forums for science and innovation.
Rahul's presentation focused on the early detection of crop diseases, addressing one of the major challenges facing modern agriculture. By enabling diseases to be identified early, the approach has the potential to reduce crop losses, improve resource efficiency, and support more sustainable food production systems. The jury awarded the project second place, recognizing both the scientific quality of the work and its potential impact on society.
The 2026 Gothenburg edition of Falling Walls Lab was hosted by Chalmers University of Technology. Participants presented their ideas before a jury representing academia, industry, and innovation organizations.
Rahul's success highlights the important contributions made by researchers within the Department of Energy and Technology toward addressing global sustainability challenges. His work demonstrates how advances in agricultural technology can support more resilient food systems while reducing environmental impacts through earlier and more precise disease management.
The Department of Energy and Technology warmly congratulates Rahul on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to following the continued development of his research.
