“Her innovation. Our future” – three pioneering women have chosen SLU

News published:  07/10/2026

Three students from Nigeria, Indonesia and Vietnam have received the Pioneering Women in STEM scholarship to study at SLU. The Swedish Institute scholarship supports women who want to contribute to sustainable development and positive change in their home countries.

The Swedish Institute (SI) scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM is aimed at women from selected countries in Africa and Asia who want to pursue master’s studies in STEM fields in Sweden. The initiative is based on the idea that greater diversity contributes to innovation and strengthens the ability to address complex societal challenges.

Applicants are selected not only on their academic ambitions. They are also required to demonstrate professional and leadership experience and to show how their studies can contribute to sustainable development in their home country and region.

This year, three scholarship recipients have chosen SLU for their master’s studies. The students come from Nigeria, Indonesia and Vietnam, three of the ten countries whose citizens are eligible for the scholarship.

The scholars bring valuable international perspectives to SLU and will develop knowledge to help tackle global sustainability challenges.
