PhD student, Department of Forest Ecology and Management, joint staff

Presentation

My research centers around integrating ecology with geospatial and statistical analyses and modelling to better inform natural resource management. I'm particularly interested in land-water interfaces and ecological interactions around vegetation. I enjoy field work and data analysis plus lab work, although most of my current work focuses on data analysis.

Research

My PhD project is to develop a decision support tool for managing ditches in forested and peatland landscapes, focused on whether to stop ditch cleaning because the ditch has become its own valuable ecosystem, or to block the ditch for peatland rewetting. Expected to defend in Autumn 2026.

Educational credentials

MSc in Biology, 2022, from from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant MI USA. Research focused on freshwater coastal wetland vegetation and response to water levels.

BSc in Natural Resources and Sustainable Community Development, 2018, from Northland College, Ashland WI USA.
