Presentation
My doctoral project began in the fall of 2021 and is about equivalence in animal welfare controls. It is an interdisciplinary research project that combines social sciences and natural sciences, where animal welfare and animal protection are in focus, but with a strong connection to public administration. In the project, we research the people around the animals - animal welfare officers and animal keepers - and what affects equivalence in animal welfare controls. We also develop and test methods to see if we can increase equivalence in animal welfare controls.
I am a veterinarian by training and graduated from the veterinary education at SLU in 2017. After graduating, I worked as an official veterinarian at the Swedish Food Agency for a few years, in several locations around the country. As an OV, I had a particular focus on animal welfare controls during slaughter, and I was also particularly interested in reindeer slaughter.
Teaching is close to my heart, and I teach, among other things, animal protection and animal welfare during slaughter and transport.
In addition to my doctoral work, I am doing a residency (European Veterinary Specialist Training) in animal welfare, ethics and legislation at the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine.
I spend my free time, among other things, on my own small flock of Rye sheep, beekeeping and various positions of trust.
